Chicago Fire Acquires General Allocation Money from FC Cincinnati in Exchange for the Rights to Andrew Gutman

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. (Aug. 1, 2019) – The Chicago Fire Soccer Club announced today that it has acquired $50,000 in 2019 General Allocation Money (GAM) from FC Cincinnati in exchange for the rights to defender Andrew Gutman and the Club’s natural third-round selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft. Additionally, the Fire could receive up to an additional $150,000 in GAM if Gutman is added to FC Cincinnati’s roster and meets certain performance-based metrics. The Fire will also receive a percentage of any future revenue should FC Cincinnati transfer or loan Gutman outside of MLS.


The Men in Red will return to league play on Saturday, Aug. 3 when they take on the Houston Dynamo at BBVA Stadium. Beginning at 8:00 p.m. CT, the match will be broadcast live on ESPN+ and transmitted locally on Univision Radio WRTO AM 1200. The ESPN+ pregame show, presented by CIBC, will begin at 7:45 p.m. CT.


Transaction: Chicago Fire Soccer Club trades the rights to defender Andrew Gutman and its third-round selection in the 2020 MLS SuperDraft to FC Cincinnati in exchange for $50,000 in GAM (May 15, 2020 expiration), future considerations and a percentage of any future revenue should FC Cincinnati transfer or loan Gutman outside of MLS.
