CHICAGO (Sept. 18, 2023) - The Chicago Fire Academy had three teams in action at SeatGeek Stadium in Bridgeview, Ill. as they took on the pitch for their second weekend of action in MLS NEXT play. Posting a record of 2-0-1, the Fire picked up a successful weekend of results last weekend in Bridgeview, Ill.
U-13 Academy
The youngest members of the Academy opened their first home matchup of the season at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches against SC Wave. The Fire were dominant against SC Wave resulting in a thrilling 6-1 victory as they picked up their first win of the season. Oscar Trujilo and Markas Steponavicius both combined for a brace on the score sheet, while Kash Held and Jensyn Goranson each recorded a goal to add to the Fire’s six goal tally.
The U-13's will resume MLS NEXT play on Saturday, Sept. 23. at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches. Kick-off is slated for 2 p.m. CT.
U-14 Academy
The U-14's kicked off their home opener against SC Wave on Saturday, September 16th at the SeatGeek turf pitches. The U14’s put up a good fight, creating plenty of chances, but the match resulted in a 0-0 stalemate between the two academies.
The U-14's is set to return to MLS NEXT play at home against Indy Eleven on Saturday, Sept. 23 at SeatGeek Stadium. The match is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
U-19 Academy
The oldest members of the Academy took on Lou Fusz Academy for their opening home match. The U-19’s dominated on their home pitch as they won 7-0. The thrilling matchup saw Michael Ramirez and Michael Nesci both record a hat-trick leading their team to a clean sheet victory. Oskar Duenkel also registered a goal in the seven-goal tally. Charlie Heuer registered two assists in the match and Aaron Deppe, while Christopher Cupps and Nesci each registered an assist to round out the offensive performance. The U-19's remain undefeated this season.
The U-19's will be back in action once again on their home turf against Minnesota United on Sept. 23 at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches. Kick-off is scheduled for 12 p.m. CT.
