CHICAGO (March 13, 2023) - The Chicago Fire Academy returns home after an away trip that saw three of the four academy teams head to Indiana and Michigan for MLS NEXT fixtures. The Fire picked up a win, draw, and a loss in their three matchups last weekend.Â
U-13 Academy
The youngest Academy group started their weekend with a single matchup against Midwest United in Grand Rapids, Mich. The U-13 Academy managed to gain a point in the standings as they drew 1-1. Finding the scoresheet was George Valenti who tallied the lone goal for Chicago, who now sit in fifth place in the Mid-America division with a record of 8-4-4, 28 points. They trail the Michigan Wolves who lead in the standings on goal difference.
They look to continue gaining momentum as they take on Cincinnati United Premier SC on March 18 at 3:00 p.m. CT at SeatGeek Stadium. Followed by a fixture against Sockers FC on March 19 at 9:00 a.m. CT at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitch.
U-14 Academy
The U-14’s observed a bye week. They’ll return to action against Cincinnati United Premier SC on March 18 at 1:00 p.m. CT at SeatGeek Stadium turf pitch for their Mid-American division league matchup. They’ll resume play the following morning against Sockers FC at 11:00 a.m. CT on home field.Â
U-15 Academy
The U-15 Academy kicked off another road weekend for the Fire. Their first matchup took place in Westfield, Ind. as they took on the Indiana Fire Academy, the U-15 Academy suffered a 4-1 defeat with the lone goal coming from Garcia assisted by Goldberg. The defeat would end their perfect 11-0-0 record coming into the matchup.
The team would then bounce back in their second matchup against Midwest United. A 3-1 victory with goals from Andrej Ilich, Parker Amoo-Mensah and John Nesci.
The U-15’s will be back in action on March 18 at 11:00 a.m. CT taking on FC Dallas at SeatGeek Stadium. Followed by their final match of the weekend against Sockers FC on March 19, at 1:00 p.m. CT.
U-17 Academy
Finally, the oldest of the four academy squads had a bye weekend alongside the U-14’s. They will be back in action against FC Dallas Academy on Saturday, March 18 at 9:00 a.m. CT at the SeatGeek Stadium turf pitches. They currently hold a record of 5-3-2 in MLS NEXT Flex play and sit in fifth place in the Mid-America division.
