On the same day that No. 4 overall SuperDraft selection Brandon Vincent arrived in Chicago Fire training camp, the recent U.S. Men's National Team debutant took a few minutes to jump on ExtraTime Radio Monday to discuss his whirlwind last few months. Among the topics covered in the interview is Vincent's experience of watching the MLS SuperDraft unfold from some 3,000 miles away at Jurgen Klinsmann's January camp.
“I was able to turn on the draft while I was warming up doing some exercises in the gym," Vincent recalled. "It kept going, kept going, and I think right before I went out [to training] they announced the Chicago Fire had traded Jack Harrison and picked me up. So I got to see it live and it was cool for me just to know that before going out to training. All the guys were happy for me and congratulating me, and obviously having Sean (Johnson) and Matt (Polster) there was great, because they’re my new teammates now with the flip of a switch.”
Listen to the full interview in the player above -- Brandon joins the show around the 16-minute mark -- and be sure to catch the Chicago Fire in the next preseason outing at 3 p.m. Thursday vs. the Philadelphia Union. The match will stream live on Chicago-Fire.com.
