Chicago Fire FC midfielder Álvaro Medrán and goalkeeper Bobby Shuttleworth have been named to the Week 12 MLS Team of the Week following their performance in the Fire's 3-1 win over Orlando City SC, as announced by the league on Monday.
Medrán's selection to the weekly best XI is his third-straight, after also earning the accolades following the team's 3-0 win over Atlanta United FC in Week 11 and its 3-3 draw with Philadelphia Union in Week 10. Medrán served up a pair of assists against Orlando, giving him a total of five over the team's last three matches. The first assist came in first-half stoppage time on a cross that defender Boris Sekulić finished with his head to level the score at one apiece. The second came in the 72nd minute, when Medrán played forward Robert Berić in behind the Orlando defense to slot home the eventual match-winner.
Shuttleworth, included among the Team of the Week bench, made seven saves on the night to help the Fire secure their second-straight win at Soldier Field. Shuttleworth has now made 24 saves across the Fire’s last four matches, which ranks as the most in the league since June 23.
Medrán, Shuttleworth and the Fire return to action this weekend, when they'll travel to take on Nashville SC on Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. CT. Tune in on WGN-TV, CFFC Live, Latino Mix 93.5 FM.
